What is the history of Katimavik-Hazeldean?
Short answer
By 1866, Hazeldean was a small post village of about 50 people in Goulbourn Township. Campeau Corporation began developing the Chimo Drive area in the early to mid 1970s, in a garden-city style, and other developers followed through the 1980s and early 1990s.
As of · Updated
Wikipedia says the area between Katimavik Road and the highway was meant to be part of the Kanata Town Centre but was later rezoned for medium-density residential. Kanata amalgamated into Ottawa in 2001.
